Josephat Gallant

SAINT-LOUIS-DE-KENT, NB - Josephat Gallant, 78, widow of the late Antoinette (Chevarie) Gallant, of Saint-Louis-de-Kent passed away peacefully at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont University Hospital, Moncton on Friday, October 30, 2015. Born on November 21, 1936 in St. Ignace, he was the son of the late Jean-Baptiste Gallant and late Eveline (Robichaud) Gallant.  Before retiring, Josephat was employed as a carpenter.  He generously volunteered his time to countless committees and organizations within his community and his church and was a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Medal. 

Josephat will be sadly missed by his two daughters, Nicole Gallant Landry (Donald) of St. Ignace, Lynne Gallant (Guy Richard) of Ste. Marie de Kent and his precious grandsons; Patrick Landry and Miguel Richard. 

He is also survived by six sisters, Sémida Johnson (late Joseph) of St. Louis, Yvonne Daigle (late Paul) of Aldouane, Alice Richard (Vincent) of Richibucto, Anna Daigle (François) of St. Ignace, Marie-Louise Landry (Normand) of Shediac, Rita Pellerin (Ben) of Oshawa, ON; one adopted sister, Lisa Gaudet of Fredericton; three brothers, François Gallant (Hélène) of Long Lac, ON, Léo-Paul Gallant (Léonice) of Richibouctou-Village, Dolphé Gallant (Linda) of St. Louis; special friend, Rita Richard of Bouctouche and many nieces and nephews. 

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Antoinette Gallant (October 17, 2011); two sisters, infant Eva,  and Bertha (Eloi Doiron) and one brother, Arthur. 

Visitation will be held at Thompson Memorial Home, Saint-Louis-de-Kent on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm, Tuesday at 2:00 pm until departure for the funeral.  A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, November 3rd, 2015 at 4:00 pm, St. Ignace de Loyola Roman Catholic Church in St. Ignace.  Interment will be in the parish cemetery.  Donations in Josephat’s memory may be made to the Tree of Hope and would be appreciated by the family.  Arrangements are in care of Thompson’s Funeral Home, Richibucto (523-4252).
