Calixte Martin

RICHIBUCTO, NB – It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Calixte Martin 92, of Richibucto at the Villa Maria, Saint-Louis-de-Kent on Thursday, May 12, 2016.  Born in Cap-St-Louis, he was the son of the late Dominique and late Leocadie (Gray) Martin.  He was a fisherman until retirement, a very loving husband, father, a wonderful grandfather and great grandfather.

Calixte will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 71 years, Bernadette (Vautour) Martin of Richibucto; five daughters, Laura Daigle (Gerald) of Richibucto, Jeanne Eva Sullivan (David) – of Rexton, Rose-Ella Fillmore (Daryl) of Clairville, Nicole Johnson (Rony) of Aldouane, Bernice Tucker (Chuck) of Fords Mills; two sons, Rene Martin of Moncton, Stephane Martin (Helene) of Baie-Ste-Anne; sixteen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren.  He is also survived by one daughter-in-law, Idora  and many nieces and nephews. 

Calixte was the last surviving member of his immediate family, passing away the same day as his sister.  He was predeceased by two sons, Neri, Ronald; five sisters, Rosanna, Mabel, Irène, Bernadette, Imelda; five brothers, Aurèle, Henri, Fred, Tilmon, Elide; two grandchildren, Jean-Pierre, Veronique and son-in-law, Gilles. 

Visitation will be held at Thompson’s Funeral Home, Richibucto on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm, Monday at 2:00 pm until departure for the funeral.  A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, May 16, 2016 at 4:00 pm, St. Louis de Gonzague Roman Catholic Church, Richibucto.  Donations is Calixte’s memory may be made to the NB Diabetes Association or NB Heart & Stroke.  "Our Father was neither an anchor that held us back nor a sail that took us there but a guiding light whose love showed us the way" Arrangements are in care of Thompson’s Funeral Home, Richibucto (523-4252).
