Gertrude MacDonald

KOUCHIBOUGUAC, NB - Gertrude MacDonald 84, of Kouchibougac passed away peacefully at her residence on Monday, June 13, 2016.  Born in Kouchibouguac, she was the daughter of the late Edgar Smith and late Susan (Kingston) Smith.  Gertrude attended the Knox Presbyterian Church and was the organist for many years.  She was a member of the Ladies Aid, Women’s Missionary Society and the Eastern Star. 

Gertrude will be sadly missed by her daughter, Shelley Richard (Martial) of Fall River, NS; four sons, Douglas MacDonald of Kouchibouguac, Daniel MacDonald (Helen Brown) of Saint John, Dale MacDonald (Heather Pierrier) of Fall River, NS, Darren MacDonald (Linda) of Dieppe; nine grandchildren, Jennifer, Alisha, Rachelle, Jeremy, Eric, Marc, Monique, Sarah, Sophie and great granddaughter, Cerridwen. 

She is also survived by two brothers, Windsor Smith of Miramichi, Adrian Smith (Evelyn) of Lutz Mountain and many nieces and nephews. 

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Stanley MacDonald; one sister, Shirley McKean and two daughters-in-law, Anne Marie Driscoll and Margaret MacDonald. 

Visitation will be held at Thompson’s Funeral Home, Richibucto on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm.  A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 17, 2016 at 2:00 pm at the Knox Presbyterian Church in Kouchibouguac officiated by the Reverend A. D. Sutherland.  Arrangements are in care of Thompson’s Funeral Home, Richibucto.
