George Richard Simon

ELSIPOGTOG, NB – George Richard Simon, age 80, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 31, 2016 at his residence in Elsipogtog, NB after a 7 year battle with cancer.  He was surrounded by his most cherished family. 

George was born on February 10, 1936.  He married his loving wife Maggie (Levi) Simon on February 17, 1958.  Together they raised a beautiful family.  A "jack of all trades" he was well known in the community.  He worked as a janitor at the school in Elsipogtog and was a regular volunteer with the Venturer Scouts and the Church Committee.  He will be remembered for his passion and talent in music, having a superior knowledge in several instruments, including vocals.  He will also be remembered for his warm smile and big heart.

George will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 58 years, Maggie (Levi) Simon; six daughters, Phyllis Simon (Clifton), Candi Simon, Cheryl Simon, Sadie Simon, Loretta Simon, Gina Simon; six sons, Gary Simon (Angel), Jeffrey Simon (Rena), Floyd Simon (Eileen), Paul Simon, Skyler Simon (Haley), Joshua Simon; twenty-eight grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. 

The last surviving member of his immediate family, George was predeceased by his parents, Fred Simon and Margaret Peter Paul, two brothers, Arthur and Wilfred; five sisters, Maggie May, Mary, Mary Rose, Doreen, Josephine; two granddaughters, Mila and Kaylee-Dawn and one grandson, Rollo. 

Resting at his home, 266 Main Street, Elsipogtog beginning on Tuesday at 6:00 pm until time of the funeral.  A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at 2:00 pm, St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church.  Arrangements are in care of Thompson’s Funeral Home, Richibucto (523-4252).
