Irenée Johnson

SAINT-LOUIS-DE-KENT – Irenée Johnson, 92, of Saint-Louis-de-Kent, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at the Stella Maris Hospital, Ste-Anne-de-Kent on Sunday, October 23rd, 2016. Born in St-Ignace, he was the son of the late Joseph and Marie (Leger) Johnson. Irenée worked as an insurance agent earlier in his career and then retired after working several years as a tax assessor for the Provincial Government.

Irenée will be sadly missed by his special friend, Ella Maillet and her children, Michelle Arseneault (Louis) of St-Louis, Jean-Yves Maillet (Thérèse) of Dalhousie, Gabriel Maillet (Diane) of Richibouctou-Village and Desmond Maillet (Jean) of Fredericton, who all considered Irenée as their father, and their children who considered him as their grandfather. Irenée will also be missed by his sister-in-law, Marie-Anne Johnson (late Eric) of St-Louis and by his several nieces and nephews.

The last surviving member of his immediate family, Irenée is predeceased by three sisters, Imelda Léger (late Sifroid), Emma Vautour (late Alcide), Eva Richard (late René); seven brothers, Narcisse (late Yvonnice), Emile (late Lydia), Eric (Marie-Anne), Armand (late Anita), Alban (late Thérèse) Father Camille and Arthur (late Catherine).

Visitation will be held at Thompson’s Memorial Home, Saint-Louis-de-Kent Friday from 9:00-11:00 am and 2:00 pm until departure for the funeral. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, October 28th, 2016 at 4:00 pm, St-Ignace-de-Loyola Roman Catholic Church, St-Ignace. Donations in memory of Irenée made to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Thompson’s Funeral Home, Richibucto (523-4252).
