Lillian Frances Daigle

KOUCHIBOUGUAC, NB - Lillian Daigle of Kouchibouguac NB, passed with peace and grace the early morning of March 3, 2017, with her family by her side. Lillian was predeceased by her loving husband Alyre of 65 years in 2009. Born in Kouchibouguac on August 20, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Tom and Mary (Patterson) Powers.

Lillian was a homemaker, caregiver and most of all a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she centered her affection upon her family with a special kindness and generosity to her neighbors and numerous friends.

For many years she was a Knitter for Country Cottage Craft, also a skilled quilter and talented baker with many projects on the go at all times. Always looking forward to company, she had a hand knitted scarf or afghan and "a little lunch" ready to give any visitor that popped by.

Lillian’s faith was very important to her as a church reader, Sunday School Teacher, a member of the St. James Roman Catholic Church and the Catholic Women’s League. She enjoyed the social gatherings with the Kouchibouguac Seniors Club and the card groups in both St. Margaret's and Kouchibouguac.

Lillian leaves many rich memories and will be sadly missed by her four sons; Thomas (Georgina) of Kouchibouguac, Stuart (Sharon) of Orangeville Ont, Robert of Wroxeter Ont, Francis (Wendy) of St. Ignace. ten grandchildren; Dawn (Tim), Wendy (Tony), Dennis (Melissa), Scott (Pam), Micheal, Kathy (Simon), Carol (Francis), Tara (Rick), Shauna, Jason (Kim). eighteen great grandchildren; Kaylee, Tristen, Avery, Jamie,  Dryden, Daniel, Isabel, Brayden, Logan, Katelyn, Logan, Remi, Colton, Grace, Liam, Jessica, Kiera, Tiffany,     Sister Gladys McIntyre of Moncton and several nieces and nephews.

Lillian was also predeceased by four sisters; Stella Powers, Susan MacDonald, Ruth Potter and infant Janet, one brother Manny Powers and her beloved daughter-in-law Bonnie Daigle. 

Resting at Thompsons Funeral Home Richibucto, visitation on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm, Monday at noon until departure for the funeral.  A prayer vigil will be held at the funeral home on Sunday evening at 8:30 pm.  A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, March 6, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Rexton.

The Family requests in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Society of New Brunswick, Rexton Lions Nursing Home, St. James R.C Cemetery Fund or charity of choice.

A very special thank you to Irene Johnson, Dr. Michelle Leblanc, Dr. John McCleave, Sharon MacDonald and the loving Staff at the Rexton Lions Nursing Home for the care and compassion given to Lillian over her last years.
