Betty Wry
1930-2017
HARCOURT, NB - Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Wry of Moncton, and
formerly of Harcourt, passed away peacefully at Serenacare on
Wednesday, March 22, 2017. She was married to the late Harry Wry
(2005) of Harcourt. Born in Boston, Mass, she was the daughter of the
late Burton and the late Marie (Payne) Beers. Betty grew up
in Beersville before moving to Harcourt.
Married for 57 years, Betty’s main calling in life was
loving and caring for her husband, children and grandchildren. For the
first 22 years of marriage she was an incredible mother and homemaker
and when Harry changed
careers she joined him in
establishing Harry’s Variety in Harcourt. Until retirement
she spent her years serving and listening to her many customers and
friends, which she enjoyed dearly. After retirement she kept up
with
them as she watched from her kitchen window.
A year after losing Harry, Betty suffered a
debilitative stroke. She moved in with Sue Dixson at the Briarlea,
then to Serenacare where she was loved by Sue and all the girls who
she thought so dearly of. Though she could no longer physically tend
to people, she continued to care and mother all these ladies who took
care of her needs.
She will sadly be forever
missed by her daughters, Jaunita (Dean) Scott of Clairville,
Shelley (David) Cail of Harcourt; her sons, Dean (Bernice)
of Moncton, Dana (Shelley O’Connell) of Truro, Jim
(Debbie) of Mundleville, daughter-in-law, Judy Wry (late Wade) of
Moncton; grandchildren, Bobbi-Jo, Marty, Jeffery, Marly, Matthew,
Brandon, Kennedy, Holly, Bailey, Tori and six great
grandchildren.
She is also survived by her sister, Doris (Ken) Legault of Upper Coverdale, brothers and sisters-in-law, Pat Dunlap, Dorothy and Cecil, Bob and Carol, Murdock, Lorraine and John, Clyde and Myrna. She also leaves to mourn her family at Serenacare, who often referred to her as their adopted mother.
Betty was predeceased by her husband Harry; her son Wade;
brother Claude Beers; sister Barb (Pat) Dunlap; brother and
sister-in-law’s, Madeline and Cecil, Beulah and Ernest and
Betty.
Visitation will be held at Thompsons
Funeral Home in Richibucto on Friday from 6-9 pm. A service to
celebrate and honor Betty's life will be held at Thompson’s
Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 11:00 am with
grandson-in-law Rev. Sandy Sutherland officiating. Interment will be
