Joseph V. Richard

1939-2017

Joseph V. Richard

SAINT-CHARLES, NB – Joseph V. Richard, 78, of Saint-Charles, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at the Moncton Hospital on Friday, October 13th, 2017. Born in Kent Lake, he was the son of the late Alyre and Madeleine (Daigle) Richard.

Before retiring, Joseph worked as a welder and pipefitter and was a member of the United Association of Plumbers & Pipe Fitters Local 325, Fredericton. He worked at the Irving Shipyard & Drydock and the Irving Refinery in Saint John and later, on major infrastructure and energy projects across Canada, including the oil sands and large mills in the western provinces.   He worked with high precision and endurance and was very creative in building his own little practical inventions as well.

He had a unique personality -  he was young at heart with a ‘happy-go-lucky’ nature. He was intelligent and curious, funny and playful. He gave with a generous heart as he was always ready to give a helping hand to others in need.

He enjoyed playing the guitar, feeding the birds, camping and going to music festivals with his friends. He also enjoyed playing pool at the Kent Lake Lodge and was a member of the Saint-Charles Golden Age Club.

He was grateful for having lived a full life and was truly blessed to have had two wonderful women in his life and two beautiful loving families. He has touched everyone in a special way and will be sadly missed by all.

Joseph leaves to mourn: his daughter, Rachelle Richard-Collette (Léonard) of Sainte-Marie-de-Kent; his son, Paul Richard (Maurice Lachapelle) of Ottawa, ON; four grandchildren, Céline Collette Girouard (Rémi) of Saint-Antoine, Julien Collette (Mireille Allain) of Sainte-Marie-de-Kent, Georges Richard and Katherine Richard, both of Ottawa, ON; three great grandchildren, Danik Collette, Océane and Sophie Girouard; two sisters, Anna Babineau (late Raoul) of Acadieville and Maria Bordage (Albert) of Aldouane; one brother, Alfred Richard (Léa) of Aldouane; as well as his many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Joseph is predeceased by the devoted mother of his children, Maria (Azélia) Bastarache Richard (2015).

Joseph will also be sadly missed by his partner, Mona Chevarie, his honey, of Kent Lake; her children, Liliane Chevarie of Kent Lake, Chantal LeBlanc of Richibucto and Lucien Chevarie (Gloria) of Kent Lake; her grandchildren, Janie and Joël Thibodeau and Justin Chevarie, who considered him their pépère.
