Catherine Burgess

REXTON, NB – Catherine Burgess 96, of Rexton passed away peacefully at the Rexton Lions Nursing Home on Wednesday, February 28, 2018.  Born in Rexton, NB she was the daughter of the late Israel Daigle and late Domine Thibault.  Before retiring, Catherine was a registered nurse.  She was past president for the C.W.L. and service chairman for the Canadian Cancer Society.  She attended the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church; she was very involved in her church and went on many pilgrimages to Ste. Anne de Beaupre. 

Catherine will be sadly missed by her two daughters, Geraldine Hudson (Ron) of Rexton, Elizabeth Bryce (Tom) of Victoria, BC; one son, Bernard Burgess (Alexantine) of St. Charles; four grandchildren, Rhonda, Andrew, Cathy, Holly and three great grandchildren, Aislin, Jacob and Nicholas.

She is also survived by one sister, Norma Carter (late George) of Moncton and many nieces and nephews. 

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Gerald Francis Burgess; one sister, Emma Beaver and four brothers, Tom, Harold (Boyo), Raymond and Arnold. 

Visitation will be held at Thompson’s Funeral Home in Richibucto on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm, (a prayer vigil will be held Sunday evening) and Monday beginning at 9:00 am until departure for the funeral.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 5, 2018 at 11:00 am, Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Rexton.  Donations in Catherine’s memory may be made to the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Cemetery Fund or to the Rexton Lions Nursing Home.  Arrangements are in care of Thompson’s Funeral Home, Richibucto (523-4252).
