Bertha Caissie

ACADIEVILLE, NB – It is with deep sadness that we announce, after a wonderful long life, the passing of Bertha Caissie (née Fournier) at the Stella-Maris-de-Kent hospital on Tuesday, April 24^th, 2018 at the age of 96 years. Born in Acadieville, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Alma (Doiron) Fournier.

Bertha was very wise and strong woman, with qualities too numerous to mention. She devoted her life to taking care of others and of her community.

Bertha leaves to mourn her beloved children, who were with her until her last breath, her twins Gilles and Juliette of Acadieville; her daughter, Edwina Landry (Bernard) of St-André; her sons, Claudio (Dianne Vautour) of Aldouane, Donald (Joanne Maillet) of Collette and her youngest son, Aldoria (Patricia Lavoie) of Moncton; her seven grandchildren whom she adored, Christian, Sébastien, Isabelle, Julien, Marie-Josée, Zachary and Matthew; as well as her great-grandson, Cédric.

Bertha will also be sadly missed by her brothers, Cléophas (Madeleine) of Moncton and Eric (Jocelyne) of St-Adolphe-D’Howard, QC; her sister, whom she considered like a daughter, Gerty Laveau (Michel Bélanger) of St-Herménégilde, QC; as well as a brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, godchildren, cousins and many friends.

Besides her parents, Bertha is predeceased by her husband, Alyre Caissie; her twin brothers, Laurie and Louis; her sister Lorraine and her younger brother, Alonzo.

Visitation will be held at La Salle André-Bérubé, Acadieville on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9pm and Monday from 9:00am until time of funeral. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 30^th, 2018 at 10:00am, Immaculée Conception Roman Catholic Church, Acadieville. Donations in Bertha’s memory made to Diabetes Canada would be appreciated by the family.
