REXTON, NB – Laurie Wayne McNairn 78, of Rexton passed away peacefully at the Stella Maris Hospital, Ste-Anne-de-Kent on Wednesday, January 9, 2019. Born in McNairn, NB he was the son of the late Harry McNairn and late Ida (Hicks) McNairn. Before retiring, Laurie was employed as a hoisting engineer at Procor in Oakville, ON for 37 years. He volunteered with Red Cross (Meals on Wheels) and was a member of the New Brunswick Senior Citizens Federation in Rexton. He enjoyed working outdoor and puttering in his garage.
Laurie will be sadly missed by his wife of 53 years, Norma (Roach) McNairn of Rexton; two sons; Daniel McNairn of Rexton, Derek McNairn (Sheri-Anne) and grandson, Xander Taylor-McNairn of Harrowsmith, ON
He is also survived by one sister, Pearl Burton (late Glenn) of Langley, BC and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by five sisters, Mildred, Beatrice, Marina, Gladys, Verna; three brothers, Russell, Stuart, Kenneth and one grandson at birth, Braedan Taylor-McNairn.
Visitation will be held at Thompson’s Funeral Home in Richibucto on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 pm, Monday at 9:00 am until time of the funeral. A Funeral Service will be held at Thompson’s Funeral Home Chapel, Richibucto on Monday, January 14, 2019 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers donations in Laurie’s memory may be made to the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Cemetery Fund in Rexton or the charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are in care of Thompson’s Funeral Home, Richibucto (523-4252).
