POINTE-SAPIN, NB – Rhéal Roy 71, of Pointe-Sapin passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving children and family at the Dr. George-L. Dumont University Hospital Center in Moncton on Sunday, December 1, 2019. Born in Pointe-Sapin, he was the son of the late Alfred Roy and late Mélenda (Mazerolle) Roy. Before retiring, Rhéal was a fisherman.
Rhéal will be sadly missed by his daughter, Sophie LeBlanc (Danny) of Moncton; his son, Renaud Roy (Anike) of Dieppe; three grandchildren, Nicholas, Jolin, Danika and his special friend, Marguerite Robichaud of Pointe-Sapin.
He is also survived by two sisters, Diana Richard (late Benoit), Claudette Richard (late Maurice); one brother, Esmond Roy all of Pointe-Sapin, many nieces, nephews and the mother of his children, Maria Roy of Bouctouche.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his uncle, Alec Mazerolle that helped raise him from a young age when his father passed away and two brothers, Sylvio and Claude.
Visitation will be held at the Pointe-Sapin Community Center on Thursday beginning at 1:30 pm until departure for the funeral. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, December 5, 2019 at 4:00 pm, St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Pointe-Sapin. Donations in Rhéal’s memory may be made to the Oncology Center at the Dumont Hospital and would be appreciated by the family.
