Emile Cormier

1930-2021

Emile Cormier

JARDINEVILLE, NB – It is with profound sadness that the family of Emile Cormier 90, of Jardineville announces his peaceful passing at the Stella Maris Hospital in Ste-Anne-de-Kent on Sunday, January 24, 2021.  Born in Rexton, he was the son of the late Luc Cormier and late Genvieve "Jane" (Vautour) Cormier.

In his youth he worked on pipelines from Western Canada to Newfoundland and Labrador and enjoyed meeting new people, especially from different cultures.  Once he married the love of his life, Noella in 1963, he worked for Laurentide Chemicals where he retired after 30+ years of service.  He never realized his dream of working on the steamers, however, his love of boats always remained.

He was an avid dancer and since his youth, found his way to nearly every dance hall from Rexton to Harcourt.  He and Noella were members of the St. Louis Golden Age Club where they danced weekly for a number of years.

Emile was truly one of a kind, always with a warm smile, always ready to help anyone in need, ready to give the shirt off his back with no regard for himself.  Humble, with no desire for attention, he enjoyed the simple, natural things in life.  He was a devoted parishioner and the only thing he loved more than his church was his family.  He wasn’t strong on accepting charity but was the first one to offer it.

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 58 years, Noella (Robichaud) Cormier of Jardineville; two daughters, Rose-Marie Cormier (Roger) of Cocagne, Monique Scarling (Eric) of St. Charles; two sons, Donald "Donnie" Cormier, Terrance "Terry" Cormier both of Jardineville; five grandchildren, Michel (Jolene), Mathieu (Lise), Marc (Shirley), Cameron (Kelly), Adonica, four great grandchildren, Noah, Alex, Rylee, Madison, two step grandchildren, Samuel, Yzabel, one great grandson, Lukas; and one nephew, Ernie Comeau; as well as many brothers and sisters in law.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one sister, Laurestine.

Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm, Monday at 9:00 am until departure for the funeral at Thompson's Funeral Home in Richibucto.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, February 15, 2021 at 11:00 am, Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Rexton.  Due to COVID-19 restrictions masks are mandatory at all times and there will be limited seating at the church.
