Gerard Richard

ST. IGNACE, NB - Gerard Richard 88 of St. Ignace passed away peacefully at the Stella Maris Hospital, St. Anne de Kent, on Saturday, April 5, 2014 after a brief illness.  Born in St. Ignace, he was the son of the late Joe W. Richard and late Madelaine (Gallant) Richard.  Before retiring, Gerard was employed as a painter.  He was a member of the St. Ignace Golden Age Club and was a past president for 15 years.

Gerard will be sadly missed by his wife of 61 years, Maria (Richard) Richard of St. Ignace, three daughters: Magella Richard (Onil) of St. Ignace, Linda Vautour (Paul) of St. Louis, Juliette Richard (Antoine Arsenault) of Rogersville, five sons: Jean-Claude (Cecile) of Rogersville, Eric (Annette) of St. Ignace, Joe (Annette) of Dieppe, Gerald (Lise) of St. Ignace, Roger "Rocker" of St. Ignace, thirteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

He is also survived by five sisters: Aurélie Daigle (late Gerard) of Sterling, MASS, Flora Leger (late Ulyse) of New York, Rose-Mai Gallant (Yvon ) of St. Ignace, Eugenie Babineau (Alfred) of Saint John, Yolande Richard (late Elmo) of Richibucto, five brothers; Francois (Dina) of Leominster, MASS, Emerie (Marie Anne) of Leominster, MASS, Laurie (Delcia) of St. Charles, Yvon (Roberta) of Richibucto, Paul-Emile (Gisele) of St. Ignace, two sisters-in-law: Marie Richard and Marguerite Richard and several nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

He was predeceased by two sisters: Alexina, Bertha, three infant sisters: Emilie, Zelia, Gemma and four brothers: Irenée Freddy, Camille and Edmond.

Visitation will be held at Thompson Memorial Home, Saint-Louis-de-Kent on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9, Thursday at 9:00 am until departure for the funeral.  A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at 11:00 am, St. Ignace de Loyola Roman Catholic Church, St. Ignace.
