Thelma Girvan

REXTON, NB - Thelma Girvan, 88, of Rexton passed away peacefully at the Rexton Lions Nursing Home on July 14, 2015.  Born in Tweedie Brook, NB she was the daughter of the late Andrew and late Lucy (Ellis) Wood.  Before retiring, Thelma was employed as the general manager of the Rexton Credit Union for 23 years and she was also employed as a cook.  She attended St. Andrew's United Church and was a member of the Rexton Lions Club.  She was a Melvin Jones Award Recipient. 

Thelma will be sadly missed by her two daughters, Paula Girvan (Ross), Lynn (Girvan) Corcoran (Al); special foster daughter, Sherry Fournel of Calgary, very special niece, Nancy Cail; four grandchildren, Scott (Denise) of Bouctouche, Aaron of Rexton, Tom of Edmonton, Peter of Fort McMurray; step granddaughter, Ceilidh Corcoran of Cochrane, Alberta, step-grandson, Cristin Corcoran, Edmonton; great grandchildren, Carlee, Madison, Macon, Tristen; step-great grandchildren, Mathieu, Emilie, Molly and Max. 

She is also survived by two sisters, Hazel Babin (late Roy), Judy Wood (Daryl); one brother, Douglas Wood (late Florence) and many nieces and nephews. 

She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Thomas (Mac) Girvan; son, Gregory; sisters, Muriel, Olive, Doris; brother, Wesley and an infant brother. 

Resting at Thompson's Funeral Home, Richibucto with visitation on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm.  A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2015, at 1:00 pm, St. Andrew's United Church, Rexton.  Interment will be in the parish cemetery.  A Reception at St. Andrew's United Church Hall will follow the service.  Donations in Thelma's "Tab" memory may be made to the St. Andrew's Restoration Fund, Rexton Lions Nursing Home or charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements are in care of Thompson's Funeral Home, Richibucto (523-4252).
