INDIAN
ISLAND, NB – Mary Delila Dereka Lynn Paul, age 18, passed
away suddenly on Thursday, August 4th, 2016. Born in Moncton, she
was the daughter of Catherine Sanipass and David Richard, and
biological daughter of Delora Paul. She was also the goddaughter of
Lindsay Paul and Raymond Julian.
She learned
how to figure skate at age 5 with the Can Skate program and then
starting playing hockey at age 7. Her achievements in hockey consisted
of being team captain of the Richibucto boy’s team, making
it to the finals in the Canada Youth Under 17 Championship and also
made it to the National Aboriginal Youth Championship. She will be
remembered for her vibrant personality and her big
smile.
Besides her
parents, Dereka is survived by two brothers, Chad Sanipass and John
Richard; three sisters, Wanieta Bennett, Claudette Roper and Eva
Richard; as well as by her grandparents, Evangeline Sanipass, Judy
Paul and Joe John Sanipass.
Resting at
her home, 62 Island Dr., Indian Island, beginning on Sunday at 2:00 pm
until time of the funeral. A Funeral Mass will be held on
Tuesday, August 9th, 2016 at 4:00 pm, Blessed
Kateri Tekakwitha Roman Catholic Church, Indian
Island. Arrangements are in care of
Thompson’s Funeral Home, Richibucto
