1937-2020

Dale Dickinson (UPDATED)

UPPER REXTON, NB – It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Dale Everett Dickinson, 82, of Upper Rexton, on Thursday, October 1, 2020 after a brief illness at the Moncton Hospital. Born in Rexton, he was the son of the late Dorrance Wynn and Lorna Emily (Everett) Dickinson

Dale worked at CN Express, Via Rail, Vautour’s Trucking, manager at the Irving Convenience Store in Rexton and delivered cars for Hannay’s. He contributed to the community as a lifetime member of the Humphrey Lewisville Sunnybrae Lions Club, member of the Independent order of Foresters (IOF), past president of the board of Rexton Seniors Rentals, member of the board of directors of the Bonar Law Museum, member of the Small Town Players committee, and member of the board of the Richibucto Port Authority. He delivered for Meals on Wheels, was the caretaker of St. Andrews United Cemetery, and made over 100 blood donations.

Dale was predeceased by his wife, Joan Marilyn (née MacMichael), also of Rexton. Dale and Joan loved sharing their home in Upper Rexton with family and friends. Many good times were enjoyed in the old cottage and the new house, sitting on the beach, the porch or in the sugar shack. Dale was a great neighbour, always generous with his time and willing to lend a hand. He enjoyed sailing, snowmobiling and was always ready for new adventure, especially if it involved long drives and good food. His home was always open to furry companions big and small, the latest being Maggie and Carter.

Dale is mourned by his son, Michael (Solange) of Edmonton, AB; three daughters, Donna Chauvin (the late Joseph) of Fredericton, Margaret Ellen "Peggy" Mayo of Rexton and Leslie Theriault (Randy) of Moncton; his nine grandchildren, Rodney, Cory (Leanne), Trista, Nicholas, Anthony, Brandon (Katelyn), Meaghan, Bradley and Justin; and his three great grandchildren, Wyatt, Lila and Charlie Grace.

He will also be sadly missed by his brother, John Dickinson (Beth) of Amherst Point, NS, and many nieces and nephews. Dale was predeceased by his sister Sandra Leblanc.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home. The funeral will be celebrated on Saturday, August 13th, 2022 at 2:00pm, St. Andrew's United Church, Rexton.

Donations would be appreciated by St. Andrew's United Church, Rexton or the Diabetes/Kidney Association.

Arrangements are in the professional care of Thompson’s Funeral Home, Richibucto. (523-4252)
