Harry Sock

ELSIPOGTOG, NB - Harry Sock, 73 years old, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 6, 2021 at his home in Elsipogtog First Nation. He was surrounded by his loving wife Eva and his family.  Harry was born on June 30, 1948. He was the son of the late Susie Ann and Larry Sock. Harry attended St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church in Elsipogtog, NB.

Harry was very passionate about his work at Big Cove Child and Family Services and providing a safe and healthy environment for the children and families of his community, Elsipogtog First Nation.  Harry worked passionately and endlessly with various community, provincial, regional and national leaders to develop Big Cove Child and Family Services. Under the leadership of Former Chief Albert Levi, in 1983 up until his retirement in April 2021, as Director of Child and Family Agency. His love for his community led him to be involved in various committees such as minor sports, boy scouts and other programs.

Harry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, brother and friend to many. Harry is known for his story telling and would beam with pride when he spoke about his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Harry had a gift of listening to people and he always respectfully listened with his undivided attention. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to people and causes, whenever he was needed. Harry was a mentor and inspiration to many people and he will be greatly missed by all who’s lives he touched.

Harry will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Eva (Levi) Sock of 53 years; two sons: Derek Sock (Kirbie), Larry Sock (Jenilee); daughters-in-law, Sue Ann Sock and Starr Paul; 21 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren.

He is survived by three sisters: Madeline Ward (Roy), Anita Joseph, Lee Ann Sock (Mark Yoman); two adopted sisters: Lorna Solomon, Patty Peters; seven brothers, Stanley, Jacob (Geraldine), Harold (Diane), Leon (Carol), Alfred (Linda), Charlie (Serena), Gerald and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by parents: Larry Sock & Susie Ann (Levi); two brothers: Howard Sock, Levi Joseph Sock; one sister Margaret Levy; and by his son Jonathan Craig (Jumbo) Sock, who passed away suddenly on April 3, 2021, when his fishing vessel "Tyhawk" tragically capsized.

Visitation will be held at his home, 91 Riverside Drive, Elsipogtog, NB. It will commence on Saturday, December 11th, 2021  at 2:00 pm until the funeral service. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, December 13, 2021 at 10:30 am at St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church in Elsipogtog.

For those who wish to donate, donations may be made to the NB Lung Association in Harry Sock’s memory.

The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the Extra Mural staff and his medical team.
