REXTON, NB – Carmella Marie Anunciata Gertrude Robichaud, 86, of Rexton, Kent County, NB, passed away peacefully at the Rexton Lions Nursing Home on Wednesday, April 13, 2022. Born in Richibucto, she was the daughter of Louis P.A. (former MP and Q.C.) and Lorette (Langis) Robichaud.

Carmella received her early education in Richibucto, and then went on to graduate with her high school diploma and an English Secretarial Course with extra courses in French grammar from the former College Notre-Dame d’Acadie in Moncton. She continued with two winters of evening courses in Fine Arts at St. Mary’s University in Halifax, NS. She worked in both the private and public sectors, mainly with various levels of Government-Municipal, Provincial and 17 years with the RCMP Federal Force in Moncton and Bathurst.

She retired in 1994 to Rexton where she developed her interest in art (pastel and oil painting), flower gardening, photography; home studies in psychology, playing musical instruments, mainly the piano, having been first tutored by her mother. She had a great sense of humour, enjoyed telling jokes and was a great entertainer.

Carmella is survived by several beloved nephews and nieces, and guardian sister-in-law, Francesca Robichaud (late Adrien) of Amherst, NS.

Besides her parents, Carmella was predeceased by her five sisters and four brothers, Rita (Raymond) Leger, Lucille, Stella (Norman) Bourque, Thérèse, Lorette, Dr. Yves, Dr. Louis P.A. II, Dr. Langis & Dr. Adrien Robichaud.

Cremation has taken place and a funeral service will be held at Thompson’s Funeral Home Chapel, Richibucto on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at 1:00pm. Interment will be held at the Aldouane Roman Catholic Cemetery. A reception will follow at the funeral home following the burial.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Red Cross.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Rexton Lions Nursing Home for the wonderful care given to Carmella.
