Gonzague Daigle

It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Gonzague T. Daigle, at the age of 90, at the Stella-Maris-de-Kent Hospital in Ste-Anne on Monday, June 6, 2022. Born in St-Charles, he was the youngest of six children of the late Brigitte and Thomas Daigle and the loving husband of late Andréa (Arseneault) Daigle.

Gonzague was a proud father and husband, old-fashioned in his family values and beliefs. He always made sure to provide for his children and his wife to ensure their overall wellbeing.

Gonzague was a hardworking and meticulous man who dedicated his life to being a passionate tower crane operator, working on major projects such as the CN Tower. He helped build most high rise buildings in the Maritimes. He ended his career proudly and at his best as a master mechanic for all tower cranes on the Confederation Bridge construction site in PEI. Gonzague specialized in work safety, maintenance, repair and troubleshooting. In his spare time, he enjoyed bird watching and photography. Spending time with his wife and his family was always important to him.

Gonzague leaves to mourn his two daughters, Mona Daigle (Yves) of Aldouane and Rina Daigle (Rod) of St-Louis-de-Kent; his four sons, Guy (Angela) of Ottawa, ON, Denis (Suzanne) of Dieppe, Pierre (Thérèse) of Aldouane and Maurice (Julie) of Dieppe; as well as his six grandchildren, Renée (Cal) , Philippe (Gelley), Chanelle (Kyle), Jérémie (Amanda), Alexandre (Mélissa) and Josée (Tye) and his six great grandchildren, Chloée, Harmony, Noah, Carter, Clara and Cliff; as well as his many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents and wife, Gonzague was predeceased by his four sisters, Elmire, Alma, Jeanne, Marguerite and his brother Adolphe.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Monique Daigle from the Richibucto "Havre Communautaire" and Kallum Fletcher who provided home care, as well as to the kind-hearted staff at Foyer Bois-Joli for the quality care provided to Gonzague during his stay. They would also like to express their gratitude to his family doctor, Dr. Mélanie Allain, and Dr. Pierre LeBlanc and the compassionate staff of the Stella-Maris-de-Kent Hospital who provided amazing palliative care and attention to Gonzague and his family.

Visitation will be held at Thompson’s Funeral Home, Richibucto on Wednesday, July 27th from 7:00-9:00 pm and Thursday July 28 from 9:00-10:30 am. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 28 at 11:00 am, St-Louis-de-Gonzague Roman Catholic Church, Richibucto.
