Irène Richard
1939-2022
BRETAGNEVILLE, NB – Irène Richard (née DeGrâce), 83, of Bretagneville passed away peacefully at the Stella Maris Hospital, Sainte-Anne-de-Kent on Sunday, September 4th, 2022. Born in Saint-Olivier, she was the daughter of the late Onésime DeGrâce and the late Eugénie (Doucet) DeGrâce. Irène had a strong faith. She was a member of the Saint-Ignace-de-Loyola choir for 50 years. She and her late husband volunteered a lot of their time entertaining residents in nursing homes with their songs.
Irène leaves to mourn her five children, Aldéo Richard (Nicole) of Bretagneville, Jacinthe Richard (Louis) of Pointe-Sapin, Irois Richard (Annette) and Guy Richard (Thérèse) of Bretagneville, Michel Richard (Nicole) of Aldouane; 10 grandchildren, Guillaume, Sébastien, Jean-François, Maryse, Olivier, Jean-Jacques, Lukas, Miguel, Ariane, Anabelle and seven great-grandchildren, Fréderic, Nayeli, Serena, Léo, Delphis, Eléa and Magalie.
Irène will also be sadly missed by her four sisters, Sr. Lorraine DeGrâce of Quebec, Eva Richard (late Elzée) of Saint-Louis, Sr. Alma DeGrâce of Moncton and Jeannette Beaulieu (Réjean) of Gardner, Massachusetts; four sisters-in-law, Rita Daigle (late Emile) of Saint-Louis, Alma Daigle (late Antoine) of Dieppe, Yolande Richard (late Elmo) of Richibucto, Catherine DeGrâce (late Antoine) of Saint-Louis; one brother-in-law, Eric Richard (Alphonsine) of Gardner, Massachusetts; as well as by her many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Irène was predeceased by her husband, Delphis, her sister, Ida and her four brothers, Edgar, Arthur, Antoine and Yvon.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at the Sainte-Anne Hospital and Dr. Pierre LeBlanc for the compassionate care they gave to Irène. They would also like to say a very special thank you to Viola Ouellet for the at home care that she provided.
Visitation will be held at Thompson’s Memorial Home, Saint-Louis-de-Kent on Friday, September 9th, 2022 from 1:00 pm until departure for the funeral. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 9th, 2022 at 4:00 pm, Saint-Ignace-de-Loyola Roman Catholic Church, Saint-Ignace.
