Conrad Landry

RICHIBUCTO, NB – It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Conrad Landry of Richibucto, New Brunswick, who passed away suddenly at the Moncton Hospital on Saturday, October 29th, 2022 at the age of 83. Born in Memramcook, he was the son of the late Raymond and Aline (Leblanc) Landry.

As a young graduate of Université de Moncton, Conrad moved with his wife to Richibucto from Moncton and immediately fell in love with his adopted community, especially the river, spending countless summers navigating its many tributaries with his powerboat. He loved fishing, travelling the world and mostly speding time with family and friends. For those who knew him well, he always loved a good conversation, especially when it involved politics.

Conrad has a very illustrious career as a community leader and mentor to many. He began his professional career as an educator, school administrator and business owner. In 1982, he entered politics and was elected as the Liberal MLA for the riding of Kent North to which he continued to service until 1995, when he announced his retirement. In provincial history, he will be remembered as the first Solicitor General of New Brunswick in the Government of Frank Mckenna from 1987-1991. He was a member of the National Parole Board from 1995-2001. He always served his community well; volunteering on many boards and organisations such as president of the board of director for Cartier Coop, Commission Industrielle de Kent, Richibucto Marina and many others over his lifetime.

Conrad leaves to mourn his loving wife of 58 years, Blanche (née Richard); his two sons, Andre (Michelle Collette) and Jacques (Josette Richard); as well as his cherished grandchildren, Eric, Philippe, Gabriel, Alexandre and Sophie.

Conrad will also be sadly missed by his sister, Josanne (Gene Leger); his two brothers, Daniel (Barbara), Maurice (Ginette); his brother-in-law, Henri Vienneau; as well as by his many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Besides his parents, Conrad was predeceased by his sister, Bertrande and his two brothers, Rodrigue and Robert.

Visitation will be held at Thompson Funeral Home, Richibucto on Friday, November 18th, 2022 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm only. There will be no funeral service. THE FAMILY REQUESTS THAT ALL VISITORS WEAR MASKS DURING THE VISITATION.
