FREDERICTON, NB – Alcide Babineau 80, of Fredericton, formerly of Saint-Louis-de-Kent passed away peacefully at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton on Thursday, February 23, 2023. Born in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Placide Babineau and late Olézine (Guimond) Babineau. Prior to his retirement in 2000, Alcide was a Journeyman Industrial Electrician with IBEW Local 1555 (Moncton).
He is survived by his two children, Chantal Babineau-Clark (Chris) of Fredericton, NB and Sébastien (Karine Turner) of Ottawa, ON; sisters, Laurette Sedan (late John) and Cécile Scimie (late Joe) both of Ancaster, ON, Yvette Arsenault of Moncton and Andréa Arsenault (Irenée) of St-Ignace; one brother, Yvon Babineau (Aline) of Memramcook and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Huberte (Maillet); one sister, Marie-Anne (Albert) and two brothers, Roger Babineau (Marie) and Fidèle Babineau (Camilla); a half-sister, Anita; and two half brothers, André and François.
Visitation will be held at Thompson Memorial Home in Saint-Louis –de-Kent on Friday, May 19, 2023 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm, Saturday beginning at 11:00 am until departure for the cemetery. There will be no funeral mass at the church, Alcide’s interment will be held at the St. Louis des Français Roman Catholic Cemetery on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 1:00 pm.
Donations in Alcide’s memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, NB Diabetes Canada, the Extral Mural Program and Parkinson Canada would be appreciated by the family.
