Florence Anna Kate Bowden
1927-2023
MONCTON, NB – Florence Anna Kate Bowden, 95, of Moncton passed away peacefully at the Moncton Hospital on Wednesday, March 29th, 2023. Born in Montreal, QC, she was the daughter of the late George Frederick and Isabella Kate (Ritter) Dutton.
Ma/Nanny/GG/Flo will be so greatly missed. She was quick to laugh, loved to give big, gentle hugs and witty to the end. An avid quilter, knitter and crafter in general, she surprised most people by playing video games well into the early hours of the morning. At 95 and a half (the half was important she said) she loved technology, was a Facebook addict and had favourite webcams, blogs & YouTube channels that she checked on daily. She loved giving items that she handmade. There are many girls who have worn one of her beautiful, smocked dresses and hundreds of babies born at the Moncton Hospital that have worn her knitted hats. Family though is what she loved most and all the family returned that love. She will be forever in our hearts.
Florence leaves to mourn her four daughters, Patricia Hann (Lester) of Nanaimo, BC, Donna Applebee (Gord) of Brockville, ON, Christina Robinson (Brian) of Saint-Philippe and Barbara Moorhouse (Timothy) of Moncton; as well as her six grandchildren, Everett, Michael, Jason, Scott, Jennifer and Andrea, 23 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Last surviving member of her immediate family, beside her parents, Florence was predeceased by her loving husband, Charles Bowden; her sister, Gertrude Pichette; and her brother, Frederick Dutton.
Visitation will be held at Thompson Funeral Home, Richibucto on Monday from noon until time of funeral service. The funeral service will be celebrated on Monday, April 3rd, 2023 at 2:00 pm, Thompson’s Funeral Home Chapel, Richibucto, with Rev. Chris Ketch officiating.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Anglican Parish of Kent would be appreciated.
