J. Philias Alyre Martin
1954-2023

KOUCHIBOUGUAC, NB – It is with deep sorrow and much
love that we mourn
the passing of Philias Martin, age 69,
of Kouchibouguac who regrettably lost
his battle against
cancer on the evening of Sunday, November 5th, 2023. He
passed away peacefully surrounded by his children and oldest
grandsons at
the Stella-Maris Hospital in Ste-Anne-de-Kent.
Born on June 7th, 1954 in Cap
St. Louis, he was the
youngest son of the late Colombin and Florence
(Robichaud)
Martin.
Philias will forever be remembered for his love
of playing music and his wild
spirit. He was a talented
musician who played several instruments like the
guitar,
mandolin and banjo. He enjoyed jamming, joking and laughing when
everyone got together. He was also a jack of all trades and liked
to tinker with
just about anything. He loved to fix things
the old fashion way. He was a simple
man that
didn’t need much in life. A good steaming hot cup of King
Cole tea
and a "smoke" had him usually content.
Before his sickness, you could easily
find him standing
next to the water trying to catch a nice big fish, gardening
next to his house and playing dice at his brother's house on
Saturday nights.
Although he lived by himself, he was very
much a family man at heart & loved
being around his
kids and grandkids as much as he could.
Philias will be sadly missed by his two
daughters, Florida Martin (Marc) of St.
Thomas de Kent,
Paulette Martin (Jesse) of Dieppe; his son, Lawrence Martin
(late Mary Grace) of St. Louis de Kent; his three sisters,
Lilianne Martin of St.
Louis de Kent, Délisca
Martin of Montréal, QC, Thérèse
Martin (Gilles) of St.
Ignace; four brothers,
Léonide Martin (late Béatrice) of St. Louis de
Kent,
Emerie Martin (Rosa) of Memramcook, Alvin Martin
(Peggy) of St. Louis de
Kent, Florent Martin (Jacqueline)
of Sainte-Marie-de-Blandford, QC; his six
grandchildren,
Alexandre, Tristan, Emma, MacKenzy, James and Kameron; his
Godchildren George & Jade; as well as many nieces,
nephews, cousins &
friends. He will forever hold a
special place in our hearts.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his
infant brother, Élie Martin and
his older
brother, Dolor Martin (late Gemma).
Lastly, the family would like to take a moment to share their most heartfelt appreciation for all the support received from the nursing staff & health professionals during his stay at the Stella-Maris-de-Kent Hospital.
