Albert Earl Symes

FORDS MILLS, NB – Albert Earl Symes 81, passed away at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont University Hospital Center in Moncton, on Friday, May 3, 2024, surrounded by a roomful of his children and grandchildren after a courageous fight with complications from pneumonia.  One of Albert’s greatest joys of life was working at his sawmill.  Albert loved bowling and volunteered his time maintaining St. Paul’s Anglican Cemetery in Brown’s Yard with Jeff and Liz. 

Albert will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 59 years, Gloria (Morton) Symes of Fords Mills; two daughters, Melissa Saunders of Moncton, Petrina Symes (Danny) of Coal Branch; two sons, Rick Symes (Kim) of Fords Mills, Dan Symes (Alice) of Fords Mills; eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. 

He is also survived by four sisters; Jeanice Betts (late Myles) of Ontario, Pearl Leclair-Hewitt (Don) of Maine, Jean Manship (Dave) of Riverview, Ruby Ranson of Saint John; four brothers, Lennie Symes (Hilda) of South Branch, Vance Symes (late Linda) of Fords Mills, Steve Symes (Martha) of Moncton, Jeff Symes (Liz) of Fords Mills; sister-in-law, Elsie Symes of Moncton and many nieces and nephews. 

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two great grandchildren, Kayleb, Malcolm; one sister, Edna Cail (late Clarence); one brother, Sam and brother-in-law, Robert.

Visitation will be held at Thompson’s Funeral Home in Richibucto on Tuesday from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm (only).  A Celebration of Albert’s life will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at 3:00 pm at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Brown’s Yard.
