André Richard
1948-2024
On December 9, 2024, the world lost a generous, humble and deeply kind soul. André Richard, of Aldouane, passed away peacefully at the age of 76.
Born on March 4, 1948, in Aldouane, André was the son of the late Francis and Lina (Daigle) Richard. In 1967, life took him to Montréal, where he met his beloved wife, Edith Michel, in 1969. Together, they spent over a decade building their life before returning to New Brunswick in 1980, where he made his living through his appliance repair business.
For André, joy came from the simplest things. His happiest days were spent fishing on a quiet shore, sharing coffee with friends, and spending time with his family. He was the kind of person who instantly made you feel at home, greeting you with a smile and a seat at his table. His warmth, generosity, and selflessness left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
André’s love was quiet, but profound, beginning with his wife Edith. Their bond was one of deep respect and care, forming the foundation of the life they built together. As a father, he was steadfast, supporting, and loving - the kind of father anyone would be lucky to have. For his grandchildren, André’s love was limitless. He went out of his way to make their time together unforgettable, always ready to entertain, indulge and create moments they would cherish for a lifetime. His heart was never too tired, and his generosity never ran out.
André is survived by his wife, Edith, and three children, Anne-Marie Sumner (Tom) of Paris, ON, Alan Richard (Leanne) of Jardineville, NB, and Steven Richard (Brigitte) of New Maryland, NB. He was the proud grandfather of Ember, Gabriel, Ethan, Patrick, Luc and Maëlle. He leaves behind several siblings: Lorraine Blanchard, Germaine (Lee) Thompson, Diane Leblanc, France (Mary-Jane) Richard, Donald (Linda) Richard, Maria Richard, and Linda (Larry) Pahl, as well as his uncle Armand (Dora) Richard. He was predeceased by his sister, Ida Belec.
Though André’s passing leaves a deep void, his legacy of love, kindness, and generosity will live on in everyone who was lucky enough to know him. His family, friends, and community will forever hold him in their hearts.
