RICHIBUCTO, NB – It is with heavy hearts that the family of Rita Leger, 85, of Richibucto, announce her peaceful passing at home on Thursday, February 19, 2026, after a lengthy illness. Born in Richibouctou-Village on October 12, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Alfred Richard and the late Marie Allain. Rita was a kind-hearted woman who dedicated many years of her life to teaching kindergarten students.

Rita leaves to mourn her beloved husband of 65 years, Gerald Leger of Richibucto; her son, Gilles Leger (Stella) of Richibouctou-Village; her sister, Ginette Martineau of Salem, Massachusetts; her brothers, Rosario Richard (Anne-Marie) of Richibouctou-Village and Sylvio Richard (Anise) of Cap-Lumière; her grandsons Marcel and Daniel (Sheila); her great- grandson Brody; as well as her extended family and friends.

Along with her parents, Rita was predeceased by her sister, Lucille Babineau; and her brothers, Fernand Richard, Raymond Richard, Jean-Claude Richard and Omer Richard.

A private service for the immediate family will be held at a later date.
