PICTOU, NS - Brian Marc Richard, 51, passed away unexpectedly on June 8, 2026, in Pictou, NS. He was happily married to Laura Richard (McAuley) for 26 years.

Born in Moncton, NB, and growing up in St. Louis de Kent, NB, Brian was a son of the late Levain and Diane (Vautour) Richard. He attended MFR in St. Louis de Kent, NB, and later attended Universite du Moncton where he received a Bachelor of Computer Science. His education then led Brian, Laura and their first two children to Pictou, NS, where he worked for 21 years as an IT specialist for Sobeys Head Office in Stellarton, NS.

Brian became an avid runner later in life and loved running with his two canine girls, Charlie and Willow. He enjoyed participating in the NS Jonny Miles Running Event and was currently training for an upcoming marathon. Brian played high school hockey for MFR and was very involved as a young man with the 773 Richibucto Air Cadet Squadron where he earned an officer’s ranking.

Brian is survived by his wife, Laura and his three children, Riley, Kayla and Lucas, all residing in Pictou, NS. He also leaves behind his brother, Danny Richard (Shera) from Oromocto, NB; his mother-in-law, Corinne McAuley (Mourant); sisters-in-law, Colleen and Becky (Crawford) as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at 10:30 AM at the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Rexton. 

Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to any animal rescue organization to honour Brian’s love for animals.
