It is with sadness that we share the passing of Emily Naulaq
Alivaktuk Burns at Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Center in
Moncton on July 1, 2026, following complications of pneumonia. Born in
Halifax, NS on September 14, 1978, she was the first daughter of
Timothy Burns and Leena (Alivaktuk) Burns.
With deep family roots in New Brunswick and Nunavut, Emily
grew up between the Maritimes and the Arctic, enjoying the company of
loved ones. In 1997, she moved to Robren House in Rexton where she
received great care until her death. She was the trusted confidant for
many, especially her younger sister Sarabeth. She loved classic jazz,
warm summer sunshine, and laughter with loved ones.
Emily is survived by mother Leena, sister Sarabeth,
brother-in-law Sean, nephews Raymond and Jackson. She is also survived
by many cousins, and the residents and caregivers of Robren
House.
She was predeceased by father Timothy Burns.
Arrangements are entrusted to the loving care of
