Roger Comeau
1931-2014
ST. IGNACE, NB - Roger Comeau 82, of St. Ignace passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the Stella Maris Hospital, Ste-Anne-de-Kent on Sunday, January 12, 2014. Born in St. Ignace, he was the son of the late Alphée and late Eva (Barrieau) Comeau. Before retiring, with his wife Maria, he was the owner/operator of Chez Comeau General Store in St. Ignace for 44 years. He has also worked as medical attendant, X-ray technician, post master, traveling salesman and returning elections officer. He was the most senior member of the Richibucto Legion Branch No. 30 with 58 years and he served in the Royal Canadian Navy. He was a member of the region’s Golden Age clubs, participating actively in their activities and offering his time to do some volunteer work.
Roger will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 55 years; Maria (Babineau) Comeau of St. Ignace, one daughter; Janice Comeau of St. Antoine, two sons; Paul Comeau (Annette) of Ottawa, Dean Comeau of Moncton, four grandchildren; Amanda, Caitlin, Stéphane and Marc-André.
Roger is also survived by five sisters; Juliana Vautour (Delphin) of St. Ignace, Dina Richard (François) of Leominster, MASS, Rose-Alma Arsenault (Ola) of St. Charles, Claudette Richard (Eric) of Gardner, MASS, Marie Pomerleau (late Marc of Hartford, six brothers; Emery (Doris) of Manchester, CONN, Camille (Cecile) of Hartford, Delphis (Florence) of Leominster, Gilles (Rosella) of Leominster, Edmond (Bess) of Fredericton, Alphée (Darlyne) of Tiny and many nieces and nephews.
Roger was predeceased by two sisters; Jeanne, Mélina and one infant sister; Emma.
Resting at Thompsons's Memorial Home, Saint-Louis-de-Kent with visitation on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm, Saturday at 9:00 am until departure for the Funeral. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 11:00 am, St. Ignace de Loyola Roman Catholic Church, St. Ignace. The family would like to thank Dr. Stéphane Collette and the nurses and staff at Stella Maris Hospital for their kind and compassionate care of Roger.
